Description

"The Cat Mod Step is a small bracketless shelf that connects to any other piece in The Cat Mod collection. The Step is the first piece of furniture in our shop that can create a route for cats to get up and down walls using just one stud. The shelf can be mounted to the left or right of its bottom plank. This listing is for a single Step, but if you order multiple ones they can be a great option for creating a path up and down the wall. These are not meant for use as a bed or resting area, but instead as a way for cats to get to their beds and hammocks. When screwed into a stud, these shelves have been weight tested to hold 85 lbs each. Each post is 6" wide, 3" tall and 11" long.- The Cat Mod Climbing Systems- We're excited to introduce the Cat Mod, the second generation of our fabric cat complexes. When creating the Cat Mod, we made sure to maintain all the positive aspects of our original collection of cat hammocks and complexes, such as strength, appearance, and quality, while also adding some new and exciting features that elevate it from the original collection. Our new patent-pending system has a lot of great advantages, including its washable cotton canvas. This system allows you to remove the fabric from the structure without having to take down any of the mounted planks from your wall. Not only will this make cleaning a breeze, but it will allow you to continue to build the structure at your leisure. This gives you the option of switching out canvas fabric colors down the road. The mounting hardware is no longer visible when our hammocks and complexes are mounted on the wall, giving the planks an attractive "floating" look.Another great feature is that these complexes are modular; you can build any design you dream up. The Cat Mod system is like the building blocks you used as a kid in the sense that we created it to allow customers to build on or rearrange the pieces for limitless options."

Years ago I purchased some wall & feeding shelves from this brand and they were relatively decent quality, though we did add additional bracing brackets to them as they just weren't sturdy enough. This time I spent more on the natural finish one, purchased a long one & two feeder shelves with 2 additional shelves because the feeder ones are now just super short, like you have to purchase the one with holes + another one to go next to it. Really incredibly bad design but I thought if it gives my kitties a perch & safe feelings to eat up high it's worth it. IT ABSOLUTELY WAS NOT!!First these ONLY have one single brace point and it's not middle, it's literally on the edge so the side without a brace sags with even 5lbs of weight. The braces are poorly designed with just 3 contact points that are spaced in a way that no matter what you can ONLY get two of the three in a stud, they're just to wide for any normal studs. The mounting hardware is cheaply made, and really confusing actually, why brace on one side? If you want two shelves but want them spaced out a bit, too bad because the traditional studs are way to far apart to make that possible. Then there's the way the shelves attach to the brace/bracket mounts. It's basically a tiny less than 1 inch hex key screw that has, again only 2 contact points making them incredibly unsturdy. We tried adding additional bracing but the wood is terrible quality and pulls away from the wall so badly that even without weight they all lean towards the front. You can put a marble at the wall & it will roll towards you.The instructions are the same for every single piece despite there being major differences but they seem to not care at all about that. The online instructional videos are not helpful & they make it look so easy but I promise they're not. If your studs aren't spaced for these they include zero drywall anchors so if you need to have more than one (which you definitely do, you won't be able to properly mount these.Do yourself a favor & just buy quality shelves (like for a bookcase) that can handle up to 40 lbs. Don't purchase these.Perfect perch for them to get up to their food bowls.Well, I also thought this was at least three pieces, but it is indeed just one step. I actually tracked down the mail man thinking that he didn't leave all the boxes or something. But after looking at the entire description together, we were able to determine that it is indeed just one step. He agreed that it was not obvious from the picture and the product description that it is just one step. You gotta scroll down and read the story they write in the details to learn that you aren't getting everything you see in the picture. That said, it IS a nice step haha. I didn't buy this for that part, I was really going for the piece with the hole in it, and thought it was a good deal to get the two steps with it. I can build cat steps myself, but the part with the hole in it requires additional effort that I was willing to pay for. But like I said, it is a nice little step....a little pricey for what it is, but it's nice.I've been an online shopper for a long, long time, so this one is my bad. I got two of these little boogers coming, and I'll use them, but I could have solved the problem these steps solve for under $10. I can't seem to find the piece with the hole in it, so if I go ahead and cut that one myself, then I guess I will have made the universe all balanced again. This is how some men end up just doing everything themselves, and don't even consider shopping to save the time. Because $64 for two sets of what you see in the picture isn't a bad deal, but for two cat steps it is pretty steep. I've got the tools, so there's no excuse for me to not just do it myself.I researched a lot of cat shelves before I purchased these. These are definitely on the more expensive side, but it's clear the manufacturers put a lot of time and effort into properly designing them. The bracket that attaches to the stud is well made and well designed and was the part I was most concerned about. But once it was assembled, it is so sturdy you'd be forgiven for thinking you could sit on it. (you can't, don't.)The only improvement I made was that I added some carpet to the top for the cats to grip. The shelves are smooth, and that probably works for most setups. But I am using them to make stairs to get into the loft area. The cats have to jump up and down to each one and they seemed to do better if they can grip something.Otherwise, these are fantastic shelves. And while they may be more expensive...they're definitely cheaper than fixing a hole in your drywall when the cheaper ones tear out.I got this and the one with the feeding bowls in it and my cat and myself LOVE it. I initially bought these because my dog also thinks she’s a cat and eats cat food. So these were a great solution to her not doin so. I honestly thought my lazy cat would hate to jump up and eat everytime but, he actually enjoys it ! Plus it looks so cool on the wall. I plan to buy more pieces and build the whole wall !Bought this as an extra step for my cat to get to her cat tree. The platform is a little narrow and although it could easily hold my thinner cat I don’t think it would support my thicker cat very well. That being said my little cat loved it and used it all the time. BIGGEST PROBLEM is that it is smooth wood which most cats will not jump on. I had to staple a felt fabric onto it so my cat had something to claw onto and make her feel safe. She would not use it until I added fabric. The fabric was only about $5 and I had a staple gun laying around but keep that in mind when buyingAbsolutely LOVE this product !! I live in a condo so we are limited on floor space so when I found catastrophic creations I was so excited. My cats were a bit unsure at first but once I placed them up with treats they were able to see how sturdy it was and now they go up by themselves all the time !Still in the process of adding to the cat wall as I find each piece is an investment but it is worth every dollar !Description of the product states this is a 3 cat mod steps and scape hatch. I was not expecting 1 cat mod only.
