Pro: This is sturdily built. It doesn't wobble or tilt when my large-framed, 13 lb Russian Blue-ish cat scratches it, which is great because tipping has been a big problem for her with some other scratching posts. My cat CAN tip this by jumping on top of it, but it was pretty easy for her to figure out how to jump in a way that does not tip it. I bought this product in the hope that its table-style design would make it sturdier and steadier than most scratching posts, and on that front my above-average sized cat and I have not been disappointed.A thing that annoys me about this item though is that it is definitely NOT built out of solid wood, despite what the description and video imply. I mean, technically it is made" with" solid wood ,as the description says, because PARTS of it are solid wood-- the wood scratching post is definitely solid wood, and the other, covered posts may well be, too (I haven't disassembled them to find out). But the flat circular platform pieces for the top and bottom are very obviously made from OSB (oriented strand board, that type of engineered wood that is made from wood chips)-- you can see that clearly on the underside. So if you are looking for a scratcher or cat tree that is real solid wood construction throughout, this is not that. OSB is certainly stronger and will last longer than the literal cardboard some cat trees and scratchers are made from, but it is not solid wood.I would appreciate it if the seller would correct the description to clearly state that this product is built from a combination of solid wood and engineered wood.I bought this item for the size, weight and 3 poles.I like the fact that my 2 cats (10 and 18 lbs.) cannot tip it over. The base and top each have a 16 inch diameter, and It is 24 inches tall. Carpet is turned under the base so it doesn't scratch the floor. Top is large enough to hold a cat comfortably. The feather toy hanging by a chain under the top lasted all of 5 seconds when the chain broke. What's left is now a floor toy. We cat owners know that feathers don't last very long. The carpeted pole and bottom shreds when the cats scratch. Why put that kind of carpet on a "SCRATCHING" post? I will eventually change it.The wood post came with a big crack in it. If it cracked, it would probably splinter. Luckily, the cats ignore the wood and I always intended to wrap it with rope or carpet scrap anyway. I frequently spray the entire post with liquid catnip to keep them interested.Again, I purchased this item because of the size, weight and 3 posts. My cats frequently pulled my last one over. I can live with it and make my own adjustments with my handy glue gun.I bought this for our two kittens. One had decided that the rug made a great scratching area, the other was clawing at our cabinets. Our resident cat preferred sisal poles so that is all I had in the house. This was great because it offered 3 scratching surfaces. When the post arrived the kittens were all over this. The hanging ball with the bell was a big hit. They immediately used the rug portion of the scratcher along with the sisal. I was disappointed they didn't use the wood side. The kittens are now seven months old and still play with the post. The biggest flaw is the post can be tippy especially when one of the kittens runs and jumps at it full speed. It has already tipped over when the male kitten reached up and pulled it on top of himself. He was OK but it scared me. He loves to nap on top of the post, he is there pretty much every night. I wish the post was taller as it is too short for all the cats to reach up to their full height and stretch while they scratch. I knew that when ordering but this was the only post that I could fine with three surfaces that wasn't a full size post. I would recommend this for smaller kittens or cats who like to scratch but don't constantly fly around the house at full speed. My husband is going to see if he can somehow modify this to make it less tippy.Made well, like the 3 posts, but the smell was unacceptable - still outside - hope it goes away.We have 7 cats and all of them use the scratcher. At this writing it's about 2 months old and is still in pretty good shape. We've purchased other scratchers of similar design and price but they didn't hold up as good as this one has. I know it won't last forever but since it's solid wood I'll be able to recover the posts when the rope and carpet wear out.Amazon asked if I was satisfied with Cat Condos Premier Round Multi Scratcher. I don't use it, the cat does. I asked him if he liked it and he gave me a "Morris the cat stare"! I apologized for bothering him and executed a quick face-saving exit. After that I engaged my cloaking device and more than once observed him clawing a post or lounging on top staring at birds feeding on the opposite side of the window. I hesitate to ask what his motives are, but he also seems to enjoy attacking the do-dad that hangs from the bottom of the platform. He obviously enjoys the contrivance but wants me to think he is indifferent about it's presence. I'm glad he likes it because it was a long time getting here traveling a convoluted route from the east coast to Arizona and finally to Marquette Michigan via Chicago.I was skeptical of the bare wood one, and my cat scratches that one the most. I found this company when i realized their products are the ones in Costco so i sought them out and found they sell online. Their products are extremely sturdy. I feel this will get some years out of it. The carpet covered leg makes a mess, but i don't really mind. I am happy when she sits on top and has a little place to call her own. She is happy and i am happy. I have the type of cat that wont scratch anything else as long as she has a post, so good investment in keeping my furniture from being shredded.Put some catnip on it and it was good to go - for our now kitten and our older outside cat.
